आज अनसुनी दास्तानें में हम आपको पड़ोसी मुल्क बांग्लादेश की एक्ट्रेस राइमा इस्लाम शीमू की भयावह कहानी सुनाने जा रहे हैं, जो सुनने में तो किसी थ्रिलर फिल्म की तरह लगती है, लेकिन सच्ची है। बात है साल 2022 की। बांग्लादेशी सिनेमा की सीनियर एक्ट्रेस रोज की तरह शूटिंग के लिए निकली थीं, लेकिन उसके बाद कभी घर नहीं लौटीं। राइमा इस्लाम शीमू को गुमशुदा मानकर परिवार ने तलाश शुरू कर दी। लेकिन महज 24 घंटों में ही एक गुमशुदगी का मामला, हत्या के मामले में तब्दील हो गया। घर से चंद किलोमीटर दूर राइमा की दो टुकड़ों में कटी हुई लाश मिली, जिस पर कई चोटों के निशान थे। आज अनसुनी दास्तानें में पढ़िए बांग्लादेशी एक्ट्रेस राइमा इस्लाम शीमू की गुमशुदगी और कत्ल की स्याह कहानी- राइमा इस्लाम शीमू के जन्म का साल हमेशा से सवालों में रहा था। द डेली स्टार न्यूज के मुताबिक उनका जन्म 1977 में बारिसाल, बांग्लादेश में हुआ था, वहीं बंगाली डेली न्यूजपेपर डेली जुगानटर के मुताबिक राइमा 1987 में जन्मी थीं। बांग्लादेशी फिल्म इतिहास में राइमा के बचपन से जुड़ी ज्यादा जानकारी नहीं मिलती है। 1970 से 1990 के करीब बांग्लादेशी सिनेमा यानी ढालीवुड का सुनहरा दौर रहा था। इसी दौरान राइमा इस्लाम शीमू भी थिएटर से जुड़ गई थीं। देखने में बेहद खूबसूरत राइमा जब थिएटर कर रही थीं, तब उन पर नेशनल अवॉर्ड जीत चुके डायरेक्टर काजी हयात की नजर पड़ी। काजी हयात ने उनकी खूबसूरती और टैलेंट को देखते हुए उन्हें अपनी फिल्म बार्तमान में साइन कर लिया। 1998 में रिलीज हुई इस फिल्म से राइमा इस्लाम शीमू ने फिल्मों में कदम रखा। पहली ही फिल्म से पहचान बनाने के बाद राइमा 2002 तक करीब 25 बांग्लादेशी फिल्मों में नजर आईं। फिल्मों के साथ-साथ वो थिएटर से भी जुड़ी रहीं। उन्होंने करीब 50 नाटकों में हिस्सा लिया था। वहीं राइमा बांग्लादेशी टीवी इंडस्ट्री का भी जाना-माना चेहरा रहीं। राइमा इस्लाम शीमू हिट फिल्में देते हुए बांग्लादेशी सिनेमा में पहचान बना ही रही थीं कि उनकी मुलाकात ढाका के बिजनेसमैन शखावत अली नोबेल से हुई। साथ समय बिताते हुए दोनों एक-दूसरे को पसंद करने लगे। कुछ समय तक रिलेशनशिप में रहने के बाद राइमा ने शखावत अली से शादी करने का फैसला किया। इस फैसले के साथ ही उन्होंने कई दूसरे अहम फैसले भी लिए। इनमें से एक था बांग्लादेशी सिनेमा से दूरी बनाना। साल 2004 में शादी करने के बाद राइमा ने फिल्में छोड़ दीं। उनकी आखिरी फिल्म साल 2002 की जमाई शशुर रही। शादी के बाद उन्होंने अपना ज्यादा से ज्यादा समय परिवार को दिया। शादी के बाद उन्होंने कुछ टीवी शोज प्रोड्यूस किए। समय के साथ उनके घर में 2 बच्चे भी हुए। आगे वो एक निजी चैनल के मार्केटिंग डिपार्टमेंट में काम करने लगीं। बीतते समय के साथ उन्होंने अपना प्रोडक्शन हाउस शुरू किया और टीवी शोज प्रोड्यूस करने लगीं। राइमा पति शखावत और दो बच्चों के साथ ढाका के ग्रीन रोड इलाके में रहती थीं। 16 जनवरी 2022, रविवार का दिन था। पति के अनुसार, एक्ट्रेस राइमा अपने घर से ये कहकर निकली थीं कि उन्हें शूटिंग पर जाना है। समय बीता और शाम ढलने को आई, लेकिन राइमा घर नहीं लौटीं। रविवार को राइमा की बहन फातिमा निशा ने उन्हें कई बार कॉल किए, लेकिन राइमा ने किसी कॉल का जवाब नहीं दिया। आमतौर पर वो ऐसा नहीं करती थीं। कुछ समय बाद फातिमा निशा ने बहन के शौहर शखावत को कॉल कर पूछताछ शुरू की कि आखिर राइमा कहां हैं। जवाब मिला- सुबह 7 बजे शूटिंग पर निकली है, तब से कोई खबर नहीं हैं। शूटिंग के लिए जहां पहुंचना था, वहां भी नहीं पहुंची हैं। राइमा की बहन फातिमा रविवार की देर रात तक उनका इंतजार करती रहीं, लेकिन जब वो नहीं लौटीं, तो 17 जनवरी 2022 की सुबह उन्होंने नजदीकी पुलिस स्टेशन जाकर राइमा की गुमशुदगी की रिपोर्ट दर्ज करवाई। कुछ घंटे बीते ही थे कि राइमा के पति शखावत ने भी घर के करीबी कालाबागान पुलिस स्टेशन में एक रिपोर्ट दर्ज करवा दी। जैसे ही पुलिस स्टेशन में बांग्लादेशी सिनेमा की जानी-मानी एक्ट्रेस की गुमशुदगी की खबर मिली, तो सनसनी मच गई। पुलिस ने फुर्ती से तफ्तीश शुरू कर दी और जांच शुरू हुई राइमा के ग्रीन रोड स्थित घर से। पुलिस ने घर पहुंचकर सीधे पति से पूछताछ की। शखावत ने पुलिस को भी वही कहानी सुनाई, जो उन्होंने राइमा की बहन को सुनाई थी। राइमा करीब 7 बजे घर से निकली थीं और तब से लापता हैं। घर के मुलाजिम से बात हुई तो उसने भी वही कहानी सुनाई। मुलाजिम सुबह 7 बजे के आसपास शखावत के कहने पर नाश्ता लेने निकला था, निकलने से पहले ही उसने राइमा को देखा और तब से वो नहीं दिखीं। पुलिस ने घर की छानबीन भी शुरू कर दी, लेकिन घर के अंदर कुछ भी संदिग्ध नहीं मिला। झाड़ियों के पास बोरे में बंद मिला शव जांच चल ही रही थी कि 17 जनवरी को पुलिस के पास केरानीगंज के हजरतपुर ब्रिज के नजदीकी इलाके से कुछ स्थानीय लोगों का कॉल आया। कॉल पर पुलिस को सूचित किया गया कि ब्रिज के पास झाड़ियों में कुछ संदिग्ध चीज मिली है। पुलिस मौके पर पहुंची, तो पाया कि बोरी में एक महिला की दो टुकड़ों में कटी हुई लाश है। वो लाश किसी और की नहीं बल्कि एक्ट्रेस राइमा इस्लाम शीमू की थी। अब गुमशुदगी का मामला कत्ल के मामले में तब्दील हो चुका था। राइमा की हत्या का मामला बांग्लादेशी सिनेमा में सनसनी बन गया। पुलिस ने शव पोस्टमार्टम के लिए मिटफोर्ड अस्पताल भेजा था, जहां राइमा के भाई शाहिदुल इस्लाम ने उनकी पहचान कन्फर्म की थी। लाश मिलने के बाद पुलिस ने सख्ती से जांच शुरू की। बांग्लादेशी एक्टर पर था हत्या का शक, एसोसिएशन की सदस्यता पर था झगड़ा जांच में पुलिस के सामने बांग्लादेशी एक्टर जायद खान का नाम भी सामने आया। कुछ सालों पहले राइमा और जायद का फिल्म आर्टिस्ट एसोसिएशन की सदस्यता को लेकर झगड़ा हुआ था। जायद को जब पूछताछ के लिए बुलाया गया तो उसने साफ कह दिया कि उनकी राइमा से आखिरी बार 2 साल पहले बात हुई थी, तब से वो संपर्क में नहीं थे। कार की जांच से सुलझी हत्या की गुत्थी बाद में पुलिस ने राइमा के घर से दोबारा जांच शुरू की। पुलिस को राइमा के घर के बाहर उनकी गाड़ी मिली थी। राइमा के घर में महज यही एक कार थी, जिसे वो और उनके पति दोनों चलाते थे। जब पुलिस ने कार को खंगालना शुरू किया, तो चौंका देने वाले खुलासे हुए। जैसे ही पुलिस ने गाड़ी का दरवाजा खोला गाड़ी के अंदर से तेज बदबू आने लगी। मानों जैसे गाड़ी में किसी ब्लीचिंग पाउडर का इस्तेमाल किया गया हो। एक रस्सी से हुआ हत्या का खुलासा गाड़ी की हालत देखकर साफ था कि उसे धोया गया है और बाद में उसमें दुर्गन्ध मिटाने के लिए ब्लीचिंग पाउडर का इस्तेमाल किया गया है। पुलिस को कार में एक नायलॉन की रस्सी का बंडल भी मिला था। ये वही नायलॉन की रस्सी थी जिसके एक टुकड़े से राइमा की लाश रखने के लिए इस्तेमाल की गई बोरी को सिला गया था। ये सबूत पुलिस के लिए काफी थे। पति के इकबाल-ए-जुर्म से मची सनसनी शुरुआत में केरानीगंज मॉडल पुलिस स्टेशन में शखावत पुलिस को अलग-अलग बयान देकर गुमराह करता रहा, हालांकि पुलिस की सख्ती के बाद उसने कत्ल करने और लाश को ठिकाने लगाने की बात कबूल कर ली। पति के बयान के अनुसार, 16 जनवरी 2022 की सुबह 7 बजे उनका और राइमा का झगड़ा हुआ था। झगड़ा बढ़ने पर शखावत ने आक्रोश में आकर पहले उनके साथ मारपीट की फिर गला दबा दिया, जिससे उनकी मौत हो गई। पत्नी की हत्या करने के बाद शखावत ने अपने दोस्त एस.एम.वाई. अब्दुल्ला फरहाद को कॉल कर घर बुलाया। उसने दोस्त को पूरी कहानी बताई तो दोस्त लाश को ठिकाने लगाने में मदद करने के लिए राजी हो गया। दोनों ने लाश को काटा और फिर घर में पड़े एक बोरे में भर दिया। घर में एक नायलॉन की रस्सी का बंडल था, जिसकी मदद से उन लोगों ने बोरी में सिलाई लगाई। घर के मुलाजिम के रहते हुए लाश को ठिकाने लगाना काफी मुश्किल था, ऐसे में शखावत ने उसे नाश्ता लेने घर से बाहर भेज दिया। जैसे ही मुलाजिम निकला वैसे ही शखावत और उसके दोस्त ने राइमा की लाश को कार की डिक्की में छिपा दिया। 16 जनवरी की दोपहर को दोनों लाश को ठिकाने लगाने निकले थे, लेकिन दिन के उजाले में वो ऐसा नहीं कर सके और लाश लेकर दोबारा घर पहुंच गए। अंधेरा होने के बाद रात करीब 9 बजे दोनों दोबारा निकले। सुनसान जगह की तलाश में दोनों केरानीगंज के हजरतपुर ब्रिज पहुंच गए। ब्रिज से करीब 300 मीटर की दूरी पर दोनों ने झाड़ियों के पास डिक्की में रखी लाश को ठिकाने लगा दिया और घर लौट आए। शखावत ने घर लौटकर पत्नी को ढूंढने का ढोंग जारी रखा और अगले दिन खुद पुलिस स्टेशन पहुंचकर शिकायत की। सालों से डिप्रेशन में था शखावत, राइमा पर शक कर मारपीट करता था कोरोना महामारी राइमा शीमू और शखावत अली नोबेल के लिए एक बुरा दौर लाई थी। राइमा के शोज की शूटिंग बंद हो गई थी, वहीं दूसरी तरफ शखावत को बिजनेस में बड़ा नुकसान हुआ था। लगातार होते नुकसान के चलते उन्हें आर्थिक तंगी का सामना करना पड़ा। इससे शखावत के जहन पर बुरा असर पड़ा था। समय बीता और शखावत का बिजनेस बंद पड़ गया। अब घर में कमाई का जरिया सिर्फ राइमा थीं। बीतते समय के साथ शखावत का रवैया राइमा की तरफ सख्त हो गया था। वो अक्सर शक में राइमा के साथ मारपीट भी करता था। शक करता था कि राइमा का अफेयर चल रहा है। मौत के चंद महीने पहले ही राइमा ने पति के खिलाफ पुलिस में घरेलू हिंसा की शिकायत भी दर्ज करवाई थी। राइमा अक्सर अपनी बहन फातिमा से पति की शिकायत करती थीं। वो अपनी शादी से खुश नहीं थीं, लेकिन उन्होंने कभी अलग होने का नहीं सोचा। राइमा इस्लाम शीमू के कत्ल के कुछ दिनों बाद उनकी बेटी ओजिया अलीम रिद को पूछताछ के लिए बुलाया गया था। ओजिया ने पुलिस को दिए बयान में भी साफ किया कि शखावत अक्सर राइमा के साथ मारपीट करते थे। शखावत ने कत्ल का आरोप कबूलने के अगले दिन पुलिस हिरासत से ओजिया को कॉल कर कत्ल के लिए माफी मांगी थी। अगले शनिवार 15 जून को पढ़िए राजेश खन्ना के साथ नजर आईं एक्ट्रेस लैला खान की कहानी, जिनका गुमशूदगी के एक साल बाद कंकाल मिला था। लैला Donatello’s Judith and Holofernes restored

Donatello’s bronze sculpture group depicting Judith and Holofernes (1457-1464) has returned to public display after 10 months of restoration. The sculpture was unveiled Monday at the Sala dei Gigli (Gallery of the Fleurs-de-Lis) in Florence’s Palazzo Vecchio, cleaned and restored using the latest technology.

Donatello took an original approach to the subject of the young Jewish heroine who saved her city by cutting off the head of the Assyrian general besieging it. He was the first to include the figure of Holofernes. The subject at this time was usually presented as just Judith holding the general’s decapitated head. Donatello captured the moment in dynamic action, Judith with her arm raised and sword in hand ready for the kill while Holofernes’ body is trapped between her legs, his limbs dangling off the edge of the statue’s base. Three Bacchic reliefs adorn the sides of the base.

The bronze was commissioned by Piero de’ Medici with the motif of Judith’s defeat of Holofernes standing as a model of freedom against tyranny for citizens to follow in defense of the Florentine Republic. After the Medici were expelled from Florence in 1495, the government of the new Republic confiscated the sculpture and moved it to the Palazzo della Signoria, the new seat of government. Piero’s original inscriptions on the plinth — one extolling Judith as a symbol of humility’s triumph over pride and virtue’s over lust, the other exhorting citizens to follow her example in defending the Florentine Republic — were removed and a new one installed marking the date of the confiscation/liberation of the bronze from the personal property of the ruler to the patrimony of Florence.

It was moved several times over the next centuries and it was out in the elements. By 1980, the bronze had suffered severe deterioration, so it was permanently moved to the Sala dei Gigli in Palazzo Vecchio. At the time of the move, the statue was given its first scientific restoration, but it was the 1980s and the techniques used then haven’t aged well. The bronze darkened over time and the protective coating turned out to be a literal dust magnet, having an electrostatic charge that attracts dust and an adhesive property the glues it to the surface.

The new restoration began with a painstaking examination and documentation of the bronze. The statue was dusted to expose as much of the surface as possible. That surface was then analyzed with new samples taken and compared to the ones collected 40 years ago.

After the diagnostic process was complete, conservators set to work addressing the problems that were identified.

The findings revealed a need for a more complex approach to renew the restorative effects of the previous work, whilst also removing the products of slow corrosion processes on the metal’s surface. The recent work has benefitted from improved understanding of the material, as well as new laser-based technology to treat the metal without the disadvantages of mechanical or chemical cleaning techniques used in the past. This work has also revealed localized areas of gilding on the bronze, which provides important information for how this statue (and others like it) can be more effectively protected in the future.

Farmer in Norway finds rare Viking sword

A farmer discovered a rare Viking sword while cleaning up a field in his farm in Suldal, Norway. Øyvind Tveitane Lovra and his son were preparing a field that hadn’t been farmed in years for plowing when they picked up an iron object. At first Lovra thought it was some rusty old piece of farm equipment, but when he went to toss it, he realized it was actually the hilt of a sword.

Norwegian law requires that people who find potentially historic objects report them to the county council which then forwards the items to the archaeological museum for assessment. Even fragments must be reported. So Lovra contacted the Rogaland County Council and on Monday, May 27th, two archaeologists went to the farm to collect the piece. They transferred it to the Archaeological Museum of the University of Stavanger, where it was examined in detail by conservator Hege Hollund.

What remains of the sword is just under 15 long. When intact, it would have been twice that length. Despite the thick corrosion crust and the severing of the blade, the sword and hilt are in surprisingly good condition, preserved by the dense clay soil. An X-ray revealed that the sword had what appear to be cross-shaped letters on the blade. That strongly suggests this is one of the rare, highly prized Ulfberht swords that are inlaid with the inscription “+VLFBERHT+,” believed to be the name of the swordsmith.

Ulfberht swords were made in the Rhineland region between the 9th and 11th centuries. They were high quality weapons and an undisputed status symbol among the warriors of the Viking Age. Most of the 170 or so examples that have been discovered were in funerary contexts, buried with their owners. About 45 of them have been found in Norway, and none of them were discovered in Rogaland. This is the first one found in the county.

Archaeologists explored the find site with metal detectors but have made no further discoveries. The sword will be cleaned and conserved to remove the rust layer and get a full look at the sword itself.
